Double J

Last weekend we went to the Double J in Rothbury with the Lamer family. Our reason for going was to get away and spend time in the water park! Blake absolutely loved the water! He was intrigued by watching all the kids and loved sitting in the shallow part of the wave pool as the water came up on him. One of the slides had a stream of water coming out of it and he loved to put his hands in it.

We spent some time at the waterpark Friday night and then Saturday morning everyone went again except Deb, Allison, Blake and me. Deb and I stayed back with the little ones so they could take their naps. Then after lunch Eric and I attempted to take Blake back. There were no parking spots near the waterpark, so Eric dropped me and Blake off at the door and I headed in with Blake. I kept looking for Eric but never was able to find him. Eventually my dad came into the park and found my mom and me. He told us that Eric had fallen on the ice on his way to the waterpark and had hurt his knee.

My mom kept Blake in the waterpark and I headed back to our rooms with my dad. Eric and I headed back to Muskegon to Mercy hospital for x-rays around 3:15 Saturday afternoon. We only had to wait in the ER for 45 minutes, which made me hopeful that we could get back at a decent time! We got out of the ER around 6 and headed to Walgreens to get his 2 prescriptions for pain meds filled and to get his prescription for crutches filled (the hospital will only provide crutches for a broken bone and since the bones were okay in Eric's knee, we couldn't get crutches there). The first Walgreens pharmacy was closed, so we went further down the road to a second one only to find out they don't fill crutches. So we went to the Rite Aid across the street only to find their pharmacy closed as well. So we headed to Wal-Mart but called ahead to see if they filled prescriptions for crutches. They didn't, but we needed his pain meds filled, so while I was waiting for those to get filled, I called Meijer. They don't fill prescriptions for crutches either but recommended I call Hackley Hospital's pharmacy. Their pharmacy was also closed. We were pretty frustrated at this point. Eric called back to Mercy and explained out situation and they finally agreed to give him crutches. So after an hour and a half, we were back where we started but at least we got crutches! We then headed back to the Double J for the rest of the night!

Sunday we packed everything up and went to brunch with my family before heading home. Thankfully my parents were there to help load up my car! Our suite was on the 3rd floor and there weren't any elevators...and because of Blake, we had a ton of stuff!

Blake was all smiles while we got him ready for his first trip to the waterpark!

Blake woke up early Sunday morning and I didn't want to wake everyone else up, so I got him back to sleep in our bed and enjoyed snuggling with him! He was so precious!

6 Month Stats

Oops! I just realized this was in saved as a draft and never posted :)

Blake went to the doctor on the 5th for his 6 month check-up. He was 19 lbs, 6 oz and 27 1/2 in long! This means he is in the 90th percentile for height (a constant so far) and the 75th percentile for weight. He FINALLY slowed down in his growth!

Last week Wednesday our little guy got sick. He came down with a really nasty, deep cough and had a fever from Wednesday through Sunday. Thankfully I had a snow day Wednesday and Eric didn't have to work Thursday or Friday, so we had no problems with being able to keep him home. He was crabby and the only way we could get him to sleep during the day was if he was held. So he's been a spoiled little boy the last few days! He's still got a little bit of a cold left and still coughs really bad at times, but he's doing much better.

Eric thought it was funny to try his headphones he uses for work on Blake !

6 Months

Blake is 6 months old today! The last month has been a month of change and milestones for him! He loves his rice cereal (most days) and will open his mouth wide for the spoon! He is now able to sit up for on his own. We still have to stay by him because he will still tip over, but he is able to sit and play for extended periods of time without us having to sit him back up! We started giving him formula to make sure that he would transition over to formula alright and it didn't seem to phase him! He also rolled over from his tummy to his back! We gave him his first bath in the "big boy tub" too! He is SO vocal. He loves to sit and talk/squeal/giggle. It's adorable :) He discovered his tongue and his feet and loves to pull on his socks, and he is still drooling all the time! We get his 6 month pictures taken tomorrow (assuming his cold he currently has is under control enough that we don't have to cancel) and he goes to the doctor on Friday! Now for some pictures from the last month!

Playing with his new toy from Great Grandma L Holding on to his newest toy...his feet! Tummy time has gotten better too...He doesn't always mind it too much!Sticking out his tongue while Dad tries to give him a bathPlaying in his Jeep walker (he can move backwards, but not forward!)Sitting up like such a big boy!Partway through rolling overLoving getting pulled around the house on a blanket!Mommy and Blake! New Year, New Experiences!

Happy New Year! We tried taking Blake to a New Year's Eve party at our friends' house, and he did great...until we tried to put him to bed there! He's used to a quiet house when he goes to bed, so it was a little too noisy for him to fall asleep and stay sleeping, so we were home by 10! We spent a nice relazing New Year's Day at home. We switched Blake over into his 9 month clothes (unfortunately, I don't think we'll need any of his cute 12 month summer clothes I had purchased this fall)! We'll see how long he stays in these...some of the one-piece outfits aren't any too long for him! We also decided that since he was one day shy of 5 months, that we'd try giving him cereal. He wasn't sure what to think of it, but was good about opening his mouth so I could get the spoon in his mouth. We've been giving it to him every day and last night he ate almost his entire bowl of it! He seems to like it made with my milk and leaving it only slightly runny! I just can't believe he's already old enough to have cereal!
Checking out his cerealEating like a big boy!
I kept wiping his mouth, but you can see there's some on his face!

Merry Christmas!

We had a busy but fun-filled Christmas this year! We had a fun filled three days of spending time with family and enjoying our first Christmas as a family! We spent Christmas Eve with my family, Christmas lunch with Eric's dad's side, Christmas night with my mom's side, and the day after Christmas with Eric's family! Blake was a trooper through it all! We hope you all had a great Christmas too! Now for some of the pictures...We took Blake to meet Santa a few days before Christmas!
