4 Month Update

Blake went to the doctor today for his 4 month checkup! He has gained 3 more pounds and grown 2 more inches since his last appointment, so he is now 17 pounds and 26 inches long! This is the 75th-90th percentile for both height and weight! He had to get his shots again today and was such a trooper! He calmed down fairly quickly after the shots and then fell asleep on the way home. He woke up after a short nap as happy as can be! Hopefully he'll be happy again when he wakes up from his nap! He's rolling onto his right side and is trying to sit up! When we do sit him up, he falls right over...but he loves being propped up or sitting in his bumbo seat! He does not find it very amusing when he is on his side and I help him roll onto his tummy...he's definitely not a fan of tummy time! He also puts EVERYTHING in his mouth right now!

Last weekend we set up our Christmas tree and other Christmas decorations. Blake is fascinated by the lights and loves to sit and look at them all!

Blake's Baptism

Last Sunday we had Blake baptized. He did great during the service...he didn't cry during the actual baptism and then fell asleep shortly after and didn't wake up until we got back home! We were thankful our families were able to be there for the special event!

When Daddy Goes Hunting...

...Mommy & Blake play! Eric went to Drummond Island again this year for some deer hunting with his dad, uncles, and cousin, leaving Blake and me home by ourselves. It was a lot of work being by myself with the little guy, but we had a great time hanging out and playing together!
Unfortunately, when Eric did come home, he came down with a nasty cold that turned into Bronchitis. He also gave Blake the cold and eventually I got it too...thankfully, we are all starting to feel a lot better :)

Such a Big Boy!

Blake has been being a bit of a stinker at night lately, especially when we're trying to get him to bed. We had a couple nights where it took 1 1/2 - 2 hours to get him to go to bed even though he's acting tired...but he has slept through the night for the last 4 nights :)
We also got out Blake's exersaucer this past weekend and he LOVES it! Here are some pictures from his first time in it!

Playing in the Leaves

Blake loves being outside, so we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather today and let him spend a little time in the backyard...plus I wanted to get some pictures of him in the leaves :)

3 Months Old

I can hardly believe our little guy is 3 months old today! Blake is continuing to grow and has become so interactive. I had to pull out his 6 month clothes already! He loves to play with his toys and squeals, coos, giggles, and smiles all the time! He has started batting at and kicking at his toys when he's sitting in his bouncy seat. He likes playing Peek-a-Boo and has begun to hold onto his toys and Kiki's. He loves to try to watch TV, so we usually try to position him so that he can't see the TV at all...otherwise he turns his head to try to see it. We also pulled out his Bumbo seat to see how he did in it and he loves it! It's been nice to have on the mornings he wakes up before I'm ready. He likes sitting in it on the bathroom counter while I finish getting ready!

We took him to get his 3 month pictures taken on Saturday and he did great! I was worried he'd be crabby because he hadn't taken his morning nap and he finally fell asleep on the way to the mall...Thankfully he woke up happy and did great for his pictures! I'll try to post those pics soon!

Yesterday, he was squealing so much in church...thankfully it was when we were singing :) He always loved the music at church when I was pregnant, so we got a kick out of how excited and happy he was in church! I had to eventually give him his pacifier to quiet him down during the sermon!

Happy Halloween

We got a frog costume for Blake to wear for Halloween (thanks to Miss Tina!) and it was absolutely adorable :) Blake was such a happy boy all day and was a trooper that night! We took him to my parents' house for dinner and some pictures with his cousins before Chris and Deb took Breanna Trick or Treating. Afterwards, we headed to Eric's parents' house so that they could see our little froggy too!

Back to Work

On Tuesday, October 13, I went back to work. It was so hard to leave our precious little boy...I loved being home with him the first 10 weeks of his life and was not ready to go back to work, but knew I had to. Eric's youngest sister Ashley is taking care of Blake on Tuesdays and Thursdays, at our house, which is a HUGE blessing! I knew that Blake was in good hands with her on my first day and only called her twice :) Blake is at our neighbor's house on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. He is in good hands at Miss Tina's house too...her kids adore Blake and he is always so happy when I come to pick him up! We feel very blessed to have such a wonderful day care situation set up!

Work itself has been very busy for me, which is good because it makes my days go by fairly quickly. I feel like I'm back in the routine of work again, and it's been easier to leave my little boy each day. I still can't wait to get home at the end of the day and spend almost all my time at night with Blake...I don't get much else done :)

2 Months Old!

It's hard to believe our little guy is 2 months old already! Although after going to the doctor yesterday, I'm not sure how little he really is...he is 24 inches long (90th percentile) and weighs 14 pounds (95th percentile)! He was such a good little boy at the doctor and was happy and full of smiles until he had to get his shots. We felt so bad for him as we watched his face get bright red and he screamed a high scream we had never heard before! Thankfully he calmed down pretty quickly after the shots were finished and he fell asleep on the way home from the doctor (around 3:00) and pretty much slept until 8:00 this morning. He would suddenly scream throughout the afternoon and evening and then would go back to sleep. I woke him up to feed him and change his diapers and he would just go right back to sleep. Thankfully he was doing better by the middle of the night! He was actually smiling at 1:30 this morning :)
Our tough little guy!

Mommy's Little Man

This past week ended up being a fairly busy week for Blake and me. Eric woke up with a pretty nasty cold Wednesday morning, so I have been taking Blake everywhere with me and have been taking care of him by myself, keeping him away from Eric so that he doesn't get sick. So far, so good!

Monday we headed out to Zeeland to pick up some Creative Memory supplies and stopped at Mom and Baby Again. He slept the whole time! Then Wednesday night I was supposed to go to a jewelry party, so Blake got to go along! Thursday night I took him grocery shopping, promising him if he was a good boy that I'd buy him a toy! He was very good, so he got a new little piano toy that lights up and plays music (he loves it)! Friday I took him into my work for the first time and brought him around to meet everyone. I think there were a few too many people because he was a little fussy during the time of day that he is usually all smiles! After we left work, we went to Babies R Us and got some of the items we had registered for that we hadn't received and Blake slept the entire time in the store!

He is continuing to grow and become more interactive! It's so much fun! One really funny thing he does is after I feed him, he'll look at the wall in our living room that I have a bunch of shelves and pictures on and he'll start smiling and giggling and talking to the wall. We aren't exactly sure what he's looking at, but he likes what he sees! He'll also look up at the ceiling fan (even if it isn't moving) and does the same thing! It's hilarious! He also loves to sit in his bouncy seat with one of us right by him playing with his toys with him. He was even batting at the animals hanging down from the bar on his bouncy seat this morning! He has also completely moved from his newborn clothes into his 3 month clothes! We go to the doctor this week, so we'll find out how much he has grown again!

He seems to be doing a lot better with the tummy issues too. I'm not sure if it's the increase in the gas drops, the change in my diet, or just him getting older, but he's not as gassy and isn's spitting quite as much. He still spits a ton, but it's an improvement!
Here are a bunch of pictures - I've taken a ton this past week :)
