Mommy's Little Man

This past week ended up being a fairly busy week for Blake and me. Eric woke up with a pretty nasty cold Wednesday morning, so I have been taking Blake everywhere with me and have been taking care of him by myself, keeping him away from Eric so that he doesn't get sick. So far, so good!

Monday we headed out to Zeeland to pick up some Creative Memory supplies and stopped at Mom and Baby Again. He slept the whole time! Then Wednesday night I was supposed to go to a jewelry party, so Blake got to go along! Thursday night I took him grocery shopping, promising him if he was a good boy that I'd buy him a toy! He was very good, so he got a new little piano toy that lights up and plays music (he loves it)! Friday I took him into my work for the first time and brought him around to meet everyone. I think there were a few too many people because he was a little fussy during the time of day that he is usually all smiles! After we left work, we went to Babies R Us and got some of the items we had registered for that we hadn't received and Blake slept the entire time in the store!

He is continuing to grow and become more interactive! It's so much fun! One really funny thing he does is after I feed him, he'll look at the wall in our living room that I have a bunch of shelves and pictures on and he'll start smiling and giggling and talking to the wall. We aren't exactly sure what he's looking at, but he likes what he sees! He'll also look up at the ceiling fan (even if it isn't moving) and does the same thing! It's hilarious! He also loves to sit in his bouncy seat with one of us right by him playing with his toys with him. He was even batting at the animals hanging down from the bar on his bouncy seat this morning! He has also completely moved from his newborn clothes into his 3 month clothes! We go to the doctor this week, so we'll find out how much he has grown again!

He seems to be doing a lot better with the tummy issues too. I'm not sure if it's the increase in the gas drops, the change in my diet, or just him getting older, but he's not as gassy and isn's spitting quite as much. He still spits a ton, but it's an improvement!
Here are a bunch of pictures - I've taken a ton this past week :)

Sleepy Boy!

Last night I put Blake down for bed at 10 and got him up just after 5 this morning to feed him! I fed him at 5 and he went back to sleep until 8:30 this morning! Good job Blake!!! I'm really hoping we can get him to do this on a regular basis so that I can actually get some sleep when I head back to work in October!

More Smiles

Since Blake started really smiling, I have been trying to capture them with my camera but haven't had a whole lot of luck. Yesterday morning he was such a happy boy, smiling like crazy! I was finally able to capture some good smiles!
Blake was spitting up quite a bit again over the weekend and his stomach was constantly gurgling, so I called the doctor yesterday to find out what else we should try doing for him. The nurse told me to cut out all dairy from my diet along with other gassy foods, which stinks because I love milk and that really limits what I can actually eat. We're also supposed to give him Mylicon gas drops 12 times a day. We had to go in to the doctor this morning for Blake to get weighed to make sure that he was still gaining weight like he is supposed to. Our little guy now weighs 11 pounds 12 ounces!

Busy Week

We've been quite busy the last week! Last weekend was Scott & Kellie Katsma's wedding. Eric was one of Scott's groomsmen and the wedding was beautiful. We had a great time - Congrats Scott & Kellie!Last week Saturday was Michigan's first football game of the year. Since Eric lives for Michigan football, I decided to dress Blake and me in our Michigan gear to watch the game! Blake was awake for the kickoff and the very end of the game but slept the rest of the time...eventually, he'll be able to really watch the games with his dad :)The rest of the holiday weekend we spent hanging out at home and relaxing (and catching up on some sleep!) I did pull out Blakes tummy time play mat and he actually doesn't seem to mind it too much! He usually is content for about 10-15 minutes on his tummy and has even fallen asleep during tummy time a couple times this week!
Wednesday we went to my friend Vicki's house for a playdate with her two girls, Alyssa (22 months) and Kaylee (8 months), and with my friend Beth's daughter, Kennedy (6 months). I know at this point the playdate is just an excuse for us moms to get together, but I was just excited that we were able to do this before I have to go back to work. I know playdates will be much less common when I'm working! I stole this picture from Vicki of the kids - thanks Vicki!
Blake has become more interactive lately. He now smiles at us and it melts my heart! He doesn't like to smile for the camera though, so we'll have to work on that! He also likes playing with some of his toys and absolutely loves his playmat. The star on top of it plays music and lights up and he can sit under it for very long periods of time! He will get excited and start kicking his legs and moving his arms and will try talking while he's under it! It's adorable!

One Month Old Already

I can't believe our little boy is already a month old! The time has flown by way too quickly! Blake is continuing to grow and is doing better thanks to the Zantac. He still is spitting some (especially the last couple of days), but nothing like what he did a week ago! I do feel bad for the poor little guy, for the last couple of days you can hear and feel his little tummy gurgling and he's had a lot of gas. A friend told us about some baby gas drops, so we're going to have to pick those up and try them. Hopefully those will take care of the rest of his issues and he'll start feeling better. This past Monday, the girls from our small group from church threw us our last baby shower! They wanted to wait until after Blake was born so that I could take him along and they could play "pass the baby"! Blake and I had a great time and we feel blessed to have such great friends! I forgot to take pictures, but I did get a couple of Blake with his gifts - Thanks again girls! Here are some updated pictures of our little guy from the last week:
