Another Doctor Appointment

Today started out like any other morning, until Blake decided to puke up everything he just ate. He managed to fill up 2 burp clothes, completely soaked the front of his onesie, got my shorts and tank top, and got the boppy pillow. He had never had projectile spit up like this before, so I called the doctor. They had me bring him in and we think he may have acid reflux. So, I now get the joy of trying to get him to take Zantac twice a day...this should be interesting!

They did weigh him again to make sure he wasn't losing weight and our growing boy now weighs 10 lbs 2 oz! I can't believe how fast he is growing up!
After the doctor, Blake and I went to the mall...tomorrow is Eric's birthday and since I haven't been out of the house without Eric, it was time to make the trip! We managed to get Eric's gifts purchased (at least I knew what we were getting!) and went to Meijer to pick up his prescription. When we got to Meijer, they informed us that without having his information in the system they couldn't fill the prescription. They told me it would only be 20-25 minutes to fill, and an hour later they finally had it filled. I was just slightly annoyed, especially since it was time for Blake to eat!
Tomorrow night Eric and I are going out for dinner and we're both looking forward to a night out with just the two of us! We haven't had much time together in the last month for some reason ;)
Here are some more pictures of Blake from the last week:
Blake likes his play mat...especially the star that plays music and changes colors!
I put Blake in his crib for a nap for the first time...he woke up and was busy looking around at all the animals!Blake was sitting by Daddy and decided that Dad's finger would make a good pacifier!

Our Growing Boy

We just got back from Blake's 2 week check-up at the doctor's office and he surprised us at how much he has grown! We were last at the doctor on Friday, August 7 and Blake weighed 7 lbs 5 oz and he was 7 lbs 8 oz when he was born and he was 19 inches long. Today, he weighed in at 8 lbs 9 oz (the 50th percentile) and is now 22 inches long (the 90th percentile)! I thought a couple of his outfits seemed shorter than the first time he wore them and that his onesies were getting harder to snap! Now I know why! The nurse even measured him twice because she didn't think he could have grown 3 inches in 2 weeks time. I guess we shouldn't be too surprised that he's tall already :) I had put Blake in his bouncy seat for a nap over the weekend, and I had to laugh when I saw the position he put himself into! We introduced Blake to his pacifier last week Thursday night...it was getting late and he was screaming, so we finally caved in and gave it to him! He seemed to like it, he just has to learn how to keep it in his mouth! The last couple of nights he hasn't seemed to want it, which I am okay with...that way we don't have to get up during the night to stick it back in his mouth!

Eric also got to feed Blake his first bottle yesterday! Eric was excited to get to feed him instead of me always feeding him!
We also went to Eric's parents' house yesterday to celebrate all the August birthdays in his family - Blake (Aug 2), Ashley (Aug 8), Mom M (Aug 16) and Eric (Aug 28)Tonight we have an Infant CPR class that we had signed up for before Blake was born. I'm not feeling like going anymore, but figure it is a good class to take, so we will be leaving our baby boy for the first time. At least we know he will be in good hands at my parents' house!

Introducing Blake Andrew

We had a baby boy!!! Blake Andrew was born on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at 11:07 am! He weighed 7 lbs 8 oz and was 19 inches long. We are absolutely loving every minute with this little guy!

I had gone to my parents' house on Saturday, August 1, to go pick blueberries with my mom and I had just arrived and was in the bathroom when my water broke! I called Eric to let him know and he grabbed all our stuff and headed over to my parents' to pick me up and bring me in to the hospital. I wasn't really having contractions, but had to stay at thehospital to be monitored. By 10:00 (my water broke around 3 and we were at the hospital by 4:15) I was having contractions and had my epidural by 11:00 Saturday night. Blake's heart rate dropped shortly after, when I had a 4 minute long contraction...thankfully they were able to get it back up and we didn't have anymore scares during the night. I started pushing arounnd 7:15 Sunday morning and made some progress, but my contractions weren't coming fast enough, so after 2 hours, they gave me petocin to try to speed them up. Unfortunately, it only made them stronger. We ended up needing to use the forceps to get Blake out. I was just relieved it was over!
Blake started looking a little yellow, so he had his bilirubin (spelling??) tested Tuesday before we left the hospital, and he was okay, but we had to bring him back to the hospital Wednesday and Thursday just so they could be sure he was okay. He went to the doctor on Friday and weighed in at 7 lbs 5 oz. We were happy to hear that we didn't need to bring him back to the hospital again!

We had lots of visitors in the hospital and since coming home! Blake is a wonderful baby and has allowed us to get quite a bit of sleep (thanks to his car seat!) at night. I have only been getting up with him once each night!

Eric went back to work yesterday, but everything went great for us at home! Blake's unbilical cord fell off yesterday morning, so he had his first bath in his tub today - he definitely did NOT like his bath! He did get his revenge by peeing on me! I am just enjoying spending as much time with Blake as I can - he's sleeping in my left arm as I type this :)
